February 8th - Cambridge, Iowa

An earlier than usual start this Sunday necessitated a stop for coffee before heading off to Cambridge, this week's destination. As with all of our previous destinations we were not disappointed by what we found there! Even though we have only been working on this project for just over a month I have been impressed by and have a greater appreciation for the strength, vibrancy and character demonstrated by smaller communities in Iowa, especially in this era of urbanization.

Thanks are due to the Cambridge Historical Association, not only for providing suggestions on photos to take (both the mural and memorial were fantastic and hopefully we did them justice with our shots) but for also mentioning us in their latest blog post!

10 shots were uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, with 3 added to the updated article on Wikipedia. Here are a couple of my favourites:

  1. Richard, Thank you for your picture taking. I think your project is a great idea. The pictures are great and have really improved the Cambridge, Iowa Wikipedia article. You did find some I forgot to mention, particularly the welcome sign and the new water tower.
If we can provide any information on these sights or suggestions for other towns in the area, please let us know.

  2. Wrm, thanks for the note! We really enjoyed visiting and are glad that you like the pictures. We also welcome any suggestions you have for places to visit, please feel free to send those to us as a comment on this site or via Twitter. Thanks again for taking the time to stop by!
